Review: I've had this item for over a year and it still looks as good as the day I bought it home. I have it in my room and it serves as my home office. The shelving unit is study, I have books, DVD player, cable box, many pictures and other heavy items on the bottom and this shelf holds them like a more expensive wood piece. It looks good in my room and makes the room fell airy and big. Awesome unit. It took my daughter and I less than an hour to put both pieces together. They are separate, so you don't have to keep them together, although I have them together.
