Review title: Looks good but flimsy
Customer: Brian
Review: I had hoped to use this for a stand for plants and grow lights. Unfortunately, it was extremely flimsy. In fact, it was so flimsy I had trouble moving it from the room in which I assembled it to the one where I intended to use it. To meet my needs, all major connection points needed to be anchored with screws and nuts, whereas most connection points were held together with friction. As a result, it fell apart as I moved it. Clearly, it is reliant on the weight of items placed on its shelves to provide the necessary sturdiness and stability. As the unit did not meet my needs, I disassembled, repackaged as best I could, and returned to IKEA where I received my refund. The return experience at IKEA went very well.

Review title: Very unstable
Customer: Joshua W.
Review: This shelf is highly unstable. I tried it at well under half the max shelf weight of 286lbs. I placed about an 80lb box on its top shelf and the whole unit wanted to start twisting. The box is large and wide (30×19) and was placed in the center of the shelf, so the weight was distributed evenly.
Even with the cross brace and anchoring it to the wall, I wouldn't feel comfortable trusting this shelf with anything above 40lbs. Maybe the plywood shelves are more sturdy, but at that price you can buy a wire shelf elsewhere that will securely hold 400lb+.
I already returned it for some meatballs. Don't buy it.
On the upside, it is incredibly easy to assemble. Dunno why anyone would have problems with that.

Review title: poor packaging leads to bent metal
Customer: Dragonmommy of 8
Review: The idea of the shelf is great. The packaging is inadequate for the sheet metal. Do not expect the middle metal slats to just click into place with out a lot of brute force, as the sides are bent just enough to prevent proper alignment. I couldn't do it. My husband had to use pliers and a screwdriver just to try to bend it back into alignment. Over all, it was a pain and I would have taken it back if it wasn't another 4 hour drive round trip. Don't waste your time unless you need to prove your brute strength and patience to your loved ones.

Review title: Great when you build them right!
Customer: cmllr
Review: Easy to build however, you need to use the cross braces and they need to be tightened all of the way. I have four, I was worried that they wouldn't be as sturdy as the larger two I have but they have proven just as sturdy with the cross braces. Loose or no cross braces and it is extremely flimsy as other reviewers have noted.

Review title: Incredibly unstable
Customer: Lianna19
Review: Although I love the depth of this shelf, it is incredibly unstable! Im unable to drill into the wall behind it to secure it to the wall, so it stands like a noodle. Every time something on it shifts or is placed on the top it leans over

Review title: Great Unit for Storing Paint, Etc., in Basement
Customer: rachaelji
Review: We were beyond overwhelmed moving into our house so we had our handyman assemble this for us. He said it was straightforward to do so. Love this shelving unit to store our paints and other maintenance-related items. It is much better quality than most shelving units I have seen for such a purpose.

Review title: Horrible Instructions
Customer: Piltdown_Man
Review: First off: I've assembled tons of Ikea products, so I'm not a novice at this. The instruction booklet comes tightly rolled up in the box for the posts. As a consequence it is nearly useless unless you first iron it like a shirt. I needed to download a copy and print it out myself. Another problem with the instructions is the lack of clarity on what certain parts are for. There is one little part #192369, which *may* be only to protect the crossbar when hammering it into place. Other than that, it does not fit as shown in the illustration. There is another part #192250 which serves no purpose unless one plans to connect this unit to another Bror unit, but this is not made clear in the instructions.
