Countertop with a thick walnut veneer, a durable natural material that can be sanded and surface treated when required.
Layer construction adds stability and makes the countertop less sensitive to humidity, thus, less likely to bend, split or crack than solid wood.
For quick installation and easy maintenance the countertop is pre-treated with hard wax oil.
The countertop has a chevron design that gives it a sophisticated look that supports all kitchen styles.
You can cut the countertop to the length you want and cover the edges with the 2 included edging strips.
Good environmental choice, because the method of using a top layer of wood on particleboard is resource-efficient.

Good to know
Walnut is a straight-grained hardwood with good stability and strength properties. It gets lighter as it ages – from the dark brown to a rich honey color that appears through the grain.
Not suitable for use in damp rooms.

I didn’t receive the 8 footers and was told I would get a store credit...haven’t seen it yet but I’m guessing that may have something to do with Covid. In short, the 3 stars are more for the customer service than the product, countertops are nice for the price....unless you get half your order, then you could get really expensive granite for the same price.

Review: We purchased this countertop to cover a run of cabinets in our basement. After pricing out other options, this was clearly our winner. The design is interesting and the quality of the top is good. We did not have to cut it in anyway so I can’t speak to how the replacement edging would apply. I would suggest checking the countertop in the store by opening the packaging. Several of them had been damaged in shipping. It took us a few tries before we found one in pristine condition in the box. I gave it a four star on quality simply because it is not solid wood, but I knew this going in and it is to be expected given the price point.

Review: It’s been 4 months since I installed this countertop. It looks great and no signs of warping or anything like that. Very holy with the looks and the finish. I’ve only oil the surface 3 times to keep the water off for good. The countertop itself already comes ready to Install so no treatment is necessary. The only down side is that, due to ikea environmental agreements, the countertop is not solid wood.

Within months we had to call for repairs as the seams that connect the countertops together was coming out. Now a year later the counters are swollen at the seams from water seeping in and we need to have them replaced. Unfortunate, stressful and disappointing.

Review: first of all....its not butcherblock - this is a very thin veneer over particleboard. when you make cuts in it the veneer splinters almost 1/4 of an inch into the visible area left behind....so you have to trim over that or deal with it....but dont sand it....it only gets worse. was told by ikea this is supposed to be fine for a kitchen countertop and sink installation. however, when you make the correct marks and cut the hole as described....there is very little to no wiggle room for error.....so when you make your cuts and the veneer splinters all the way around the hole you just made for the sink....once installed....the splinters are visible and you can feel them and it looks horrible. so now after installation i have a crummy looking edge against the wall....and all around my sink looks junky.....and it seems that every tool i set on the countertop...leaves an indentation. so yeah....as im installing the countertop i am already planning its replacement. WHEEEEEEE !

Review: We are just completing a mid-century/contemporary house. It has several Walnut Doors and I thought it would make a classic statement if the wet bar (24 & 30 base cabinets with SS Grevesta Doors/Drawers) which is near one of the Walnut Doors had a walnut top. The Barkaboda top is far more interesting than Ikea's other Walnut Top and the larger 8 ft. top was done with a waterfall edge which goes to the floor. It turned out to be spectacular. We used a drop in Ikea SS Sink with drainboard and white glass cabinets above. All from IKEA. Overall a WOW kind of impression.
